Emotional Baggage

Leave Your Baggage Behind

What's God's Word for Today?
"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." - Psalm 118:24

Sometimes you may just need to clear away the emotional clutter so you can clearly see what is worthwhile. Here is a simple suggestion: Don't keep more than you can take care of. If you have so much emotional junk that it takes you hours to dust it, get rid of some things! Find a big carton and write "Blessing Box" on the side of it. Start putting "things" into it until "cleaning" is more manageable.

Now pray about your day, your week, and your life goals to find out what God wants you to do. If you don't do what God is telling you to do, you may let people control and manipulate you to do what they want you to do. You may end up doing things for which you are not anointed. If you do what God tells you to do, He will bless you with joy, peace, rest, and wonderful relationships.

God waits for us each day to let Him take over the things that we tend to worry and fret about. The past hurts and scars that we carry around can be laid at His altar. That emotional baggage only serves to weigh us down and make us less effective in our work for the Lord. When we surrender it to Him, He heals us and lifts those burdens. We can be like the psalmist in Psalm 118 who experienced this: “In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free.”
