Snap out of it:

GETTING RID of GUILT

I have asked God to forgive me, then why do I still feel guilty?

The Bible teaches that God Himself propitiated (paid for) our sin. In the person of Jesus Christ, he took our sin upon himself and died on the Cross thus paying for every sin you and I have or will ever commit. Jesus Christ rose again from the dead which signifies God's justice has been satisfied. Sin has been propitiated (paid for) in full.

What is our part? We confess our specific sin to God and ask for his forgiveness. Then God wipes the slate clean. He writes "FORGIVEN: NOT GUILTY" across our record. He will never hold it against us.

But what if we still feel guilty? Distinguish between who is talking: Sa-tan or God. Sa-tan, the accuser, will torment you with a cloud of guilt. He'll bring up the past, something you feel bad about. The de-vil's condemnation is designed to drive us away from God into a fruitless, hopeless existence.

God's Holy Spirit, on the other hand, points out specific sins which we can take to God and then do something about. The goal of God's conviction is to draw us closer to himself so our lives will bear fruit. He wants to heal us. To cleanse us and to make us whole.

Conclusion: Satan wants us to give up.
God wants us to shape-Up!
