Celebration for the young and old, from belly dancing to Baklava
Well being, customs and cultural traditions... that's what we celebrated last sunday during the 'Ban Topa Libanes' at Rust & Burgh. Islamic families have nice, simple and very value adding traditions.
The Family Day being organized by 'Club Libanes' is a celebration of all the Islams who live in Curacao.
Eid is an Arabic word that means a festivity (celebration). Eid al-Fitr is a happy celebration with new clothes, gifts, and plenty of good food. The Eid day starts with a small snack followed by Eid Prayers (Salat al-Eid). And Eid is a time for family gathering.
We had a lot of food, and the kids had a lot of fun playing and dancing. There were several that brought their 'Alguire' (beautifully crafted Arabian water pipe) along. The pipe is covered with detailed ornaments while the lip is attached by a thick conduit. I did try it out myself. The tabac made of fruits (I had apple & grape flavor) gives an inspiring taste in your mouth.
We had such a great time in meeting everyone again.
