And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves

~ 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 ~

Respect is a very interesting word. People spent the last forty years dismantling the meaning of the word respect. As a result, many people don’t even know what this word means. They don’t respect themselves, let alone someone else! Nonetheless, respect is a powerful force, absolutely essential to multiply your life investment.

Respect means giving attention to. Respect also carries the meaning of holding others in high esteem or deeming others as distinguished and worthy. Think about it— who do you hold in high esteem? To whom do you give your attention? Who are the distinguished people in your life you consider worthier of honor? Respect is a quality that lives on the inside of a person, its not just how a person acts on the outside. Respect deals with one’s motives not just one’s actions. Choose to respect others today, but before you do— respect yourself and know God thinks the world of you!

As we go in prayer: Father, I thank You that I recognize those who labor among me and are over me. I esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake.
