Many of us feel inadequate as parents because we assume we are totally responsible for them, but we are not.

Their soul is in charge of their lives, and nothing that you do can greatly interfere nor greatly help. Who you are as a being and what you model is the important reality.

How specifically can we support our children? We want them to feel nurtured and valued. We want to support them in learning how to provide for themselves. And we want to help them build good relationships.

Parents: persons who spend half their time worrying how a child will turn out, and the rest of the time wondering when a child will turn in.

The labels people use to describe us

We live in a culture that uses labels as a means of understanding the world and the people living in it. As a result, many of us find ourselves laboring under labels that have every kind of connotation.

Unless we can find a way to see the good in such a label, we may feel burdened by an idea of ourselves that is not accurate. It is important to remember that almost nothing in this world is all good or all bad, and most everything is a complex mixture of gifts and challenges. Owning the positive side of a label can lead us deeper into our gifted visions and fertile imaginations.

If we can remember and examine our own selves and the labels people use to describe us, we find that there is a bright side to any characterization.

If you have been labeled, remember that all you have to do to see the positive side is to turn the label around. For example, you may be considered to be overly emotional, and the fact that you are perceived this way may make you feel out of control. But notice, too, you might begin to see yourself as brave and open-hearted enough to stay alive to your feelings. You may also see that there are certain paths and professions in which this is a necessary ability. As you turn your label around, the light of your true nature shines to guide you on your way.

Try this experiment:

Enter the office with a straight face (not too straight).

As you meet others who have a similar kind of straightness on their face, force yourself to smile. Then watch the other person return the smile - perhaps not to the same extent or for so long, or absolutely immediately - but it will return. This is the absolute and often instant proof of the 'ripple and reflect effect'.

You get back whatever you put out.

We know this, but we forget, and then wonder why everyone seems to give us a straight face, even a grumpy face, on a regular basis.

Now learn to make the smile more real, deeper, smilier! Where does a real smile begin? From the heart. Can you smile at will from the heart? Why not? You need to find out soon, because you will live an unsmiling life if you don't find out what is stopping your heart reaching your face.

No one else is responsible - there's only you in there.

So don't go blaming others if you are not radiating from head and heart. What's blocking it? Take your time. Look in, listen in and see. You'll be surprised. You'll probably laugh. And say, "How silly!"

The Cross

The cross. Can you turn any direction without seeing one? Perched atop a chapel. Carved into a graveyard headstone. Engraved in a ring or suspended on a chain. The cross is the universal symbol of Christianity. An odd choice, don’t you think? Strange that a tool of torture would come to embody a movement of hope. The symbols of other faiths are more upbeat: the six-pointed star of David, the crescent moon of Islam, a lotus blossom for Buddhism. Yet a cross for Christianity? An instrument of execution?

Would you wear a tiny electric chair around your neck? Suspend a gold-plated hangman’s noose on the wall? Would you print a picture of a firing squad on a business card? Yet we do so with the cross. Many even make the sign of the cross as they pray. Would we make the sign of, say, a guillotine? Instead of the triangular touch on the forehead and shoulders, how about a karate chop on the palm? Doesn’t quite have the same feel, does it?

Why is the cross the symbol of our faith? To find the answer look no farther than the cross itself. Its design couldn’t be simpler. One beam horizontal—the other vertical. One reaches out—like God’s love. The other reaches up—as does God’s holiness. One represents the width of his love; the other reflects the height of his holiness. The cross is the intersection. The cross is where God forgave his children without lowering his standards.

How could he do this? In a sentence: God put our sin on his Son and punished it there.

Protecting Your Flow

To understand how fear blocks creativity, take a moment to imagine yourself telling a story. First, imagine telling the story to someone you love and who loves you. You probably feel warmth and energy as you fill in the details of your tale to your friend’s delight.

Now, imagine telling the same story to someone who, for whatever reason, makes you uncomfortable. The wonderful twists and turns, the fine points and colorful images that unfolded in your mind for your friend probably won’t present themselves. Instead of warmth, energy, and creativity, you will probably feel opposite sensations and a desire to close down. When we feel unsafe, whether we fear being judged, disliked, or misunderstood, our creative flow stops. Alternately, when we feel safe, our creativity unfolds like a beautiful flower, without conscious effort.

Knowing this, we can maximize our creative potential by creating the conditions that inspire our creativity. In order to really be in the flow, we need to feel safe and unrestricted. However, achieving this is not as simple as avoiding people who make us feel uncomfortable.

When you’re up against fear, internal or external, ritual can be a powerful—and creative—antidote. Before you sit down to be creative, try casting a circle of protection around yourself. Visualize yourself inside a ring of light, protective fire, or angels. Imagine that this protective energy emanates unconditional love for you and wants to hear, see, and feel everything you have to express. Take a moment to bathe in the warmth of this feeling and then fearlessly surrender yourself to the power that flows through you.

♫♪♫ Happy DOG-day to you... ♫♪♫ Happy DOG-day to you... On Saturday February 27th, we celebrated COCO's 1st Birthday and the engagement between Keeler & COCO as well.

There were 9 dog-invitees. My cousin Nathalie prepared the COCO Wall of Fame, where the photoshoot took place accordingly and also the doggie detail on the Hot-dogs.

The four sexy Beverly Hills Chihuahua's, Nikita Goilo, Taquita Tromp, Tinkerbell van Rossum & Candy Verhelst, together with Missy Samson-Frans, Tutty Tromp, Keeler Frans & COCO Crafton......, they had a blast.

The cakes and the cupcakes were made of Dog food & Peanut Butter (for dogs like peanut butter to chew on). Oh yes; we did our survey ☺ The bone-shaped cake was for COCO's 1st Birthday, and the heart-shaped cake was to celebrate the engagement. All oven-baked by my brother in law Octavio. Ingredients: (original) Cake ingredients, Dog food (also canned dog food) & real Bacon.

My Dad Elias Emanuel Curiel: A Good Man

Thinking about your father what memories do you recall? One way to learn more about yourself is to think back on your father's character. I enjoy doing this because my dad was a unique blend of discipline with a lovely sense of humor. He was a quiet, private man. I always loved to hear him laugh. It kind of told me that everything was secure.

I experienced my Dad look after his mother- he used to visit my Grandma Mai everyday. A great example of 'honor thy parents'. Most important, he taught me about character. He did what was right, even when no one was looking. I never heard him lie, and his eyes always asked the same truth in return. My Dad Elias is now resting in peace in the arms of The heavenly Father, but the mental image of his character still energizes my life everyday.

The lesson for today is: In what ways do you hope to influence your children? How does your life match up to the ideals and values of the learnings we receive daily from our Heavenly Father?

Pray: Dear God, grant me the serenity, the strength and wisdom to be a godly parent. Amen.

Many of us try to be more disciplined for Lent and give up something that we really like. That’s great! Fasting has always been an important tradition of Lent. This year however, let us also consider other things that we can give up.

Give up complaining – Focus on gratitude
Philippians 2:14 & 15 – Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure…
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ.

Give up bitterness – Turn to forgiveness
Ephesians 4:31 – Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Give up worry – Trust in God
Matthew 6:25 – “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…who by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
Matthew 6:33 – But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Give up discouragement – Be full of hope
Deuteronomy 31:8 – The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you: he will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

A Pumpkin is Like a Person

How is a pumpkin like a person?

This is still one of my favorite illustrations of salvation: A child who wants to carve a pumpkin carefully picks out a squash, scoops out the seeds and slop, throws out the mess, and cleans up the pumpkin.

God picks us out, too, and scoops out our sin and throws it away until we're washed clean and new.

This concept is beautifully related in the Christian Children's Book My Happy Pumpkin.

What a wonderful day to serve Jesus in how we live! WOOHOO!

Make sure you bless your body by drinking a huge glass of water on an empty stomach each morning. I have mine in hand right now and am so grateful for it. Thank you Father, for water. I know that it is helping put oxygen into my blood, cleaning out my colon, flushing out my fat and giving me more energy as it removes yucky toxins from my system. Not to mention that it gives my skin a much-needed face-lift from the inside out!

As we begin this new week focusing on God's headship over our lives let's rejoice in Him. Know Him. Do all for His glory.

Let us not seek the fleshly crowns appointed by men, for they do not satisfy. Rather, let's do everything we can to seek after our Redeemer and make good, healthy choices as we worship and welcome His glory. Embrace His wonderful crown of LIFE and enjoy the peace and security of belonging to the eternal family of THE KING OF KINGS. He'll get us where we need to go and exactly at the time we need to get there! Let's remain faithful in our walk and wait upon His timing!

Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton's My Valentine for Jesus is a simple, sweet book ideal for young children who are just getting into Valentine Cards. In this board book, a little boy makes paper hearts for those he loves. "I'm saving back one little heart," he says, asking us to wait and see who he'll give it to.

First he gives a heart to Mommy, then Daddy and Grammy. Next is big brother, followed by baby. The last two page spread of the book reads: "I give my heart to Jesus. It's kind of small, like me. But every time I feel it beat, I know He loves me."

What I Like: The last line of the book is what makes this title so special. We're not just learning to show our love for our family and for God, but we're given this wonderful reminder: Every time our heart beats, it's saying "Jesus loves me." Throughout, Bucket Erdogan's illustrations are warm and rich, adding much interest.

What I Dislike: Nothing, although some parents may object that the last page show's the boy's drawing of Jesus.

Overall Rating: Excellent.

Just as it's vital for moms to find time to read the Bible alone, it's vital for them to find time to read and discuss it with their husbands. Not only does Bible and prayer time with your spouse add intimacy to your marriage, but it helps couples resolve conflicts and acknowledged their absolute dependence on Jesus for the health of their marriage and family.

But if you can barely find time to read the Bible by yourself, how on earth can you find time to read it with your husband? Here are a few ideas:

* Ideally, you and your husband can pull out the Bible and read a passage together once the kids are in bed.

* Get up early together and read the Bible.

* If you really can't find time to read the Bible together, try the next best thing: Choose a Bible passage to read separately during the day. Then, at night, discuss that passage together. If your husband has a hard time digging out his Bible in the middle of his work day, try emailing or text messaging the passage to him.

* Make sure non-essential things aren't getting in the way of Bible time. If you "don't have time" to read the Bible together, but manage to watch television, movies, sports, or participate in other activities together, think hard about how you're spending your time. (Try laying aside just a slice of that time for God's word; you'll be glad you did.) Even "good" things, like volunteering at church or working for charity, are less important that immersing your marriage in the Word.

* Make it a family event by having the kids read the pre-chosen Bible passage during the day, too. Then discuss it at dinner.

* Or, read the passage aloud when you sit down at the dinner table, then discuss it while you eat.

* Although it's a nice idea to read a daily or weekly devotional together as a couple, it's far more important to actually read the word of God. So if devotionals are getting in the way of your Bible time, reconsider them.

* If you truly cannot find time to read the Bible together, something is wrong. One or both of you are spending too much time away from the other; it's difficult to keep a marriage healthy under these conditions. So while you're trying to re-arrange your life so your marriage is high on your list of priorities, try to at least read the Bible together every weekend.

* When you've finished your Bible reading, be sure to take time to discuss the passage with your spouse. Then end by praying together. Really praying together - taking turns talking to God much more fulfilling and effective.

In the Church "Christmas" refers to a twelve day period that starts with Christmas Day. There is where "The Twelve Days of Christmas" comes from. The world celebrates Christmas for 24 hours, but the Church celebrates if for 12 days because the gift of Christ is with us for twelve months of the year.

When most people hear of "The 12 Days of Christmas" they think of the song. This song originated as a tool to instruct young people in the meaning and content of the Christian faith. From 1558 to 1829 Roman Catholics in England were not allowed to practice their faith openly. Someone wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.

"The 12 Days of Christmas" is an allegory. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the song is a code for a religious reality which helped the children remember.

The song says, "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...." The "true love" represents God and the "me" who receives these presents in the Christian?

...the "partridge in a pear tree" was Jesus Christ who died on a tree as a gift from God.

...the "two turtle doves" were the Old and New Testaments--another gift from God.

...the "three French hens" were faith, hope and love--the three gifts of the Spirit that abide (I Corinthians 13).

...the "four calling birds" were the four Gospels, the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

...the "five golden rings" were the first five books of the Bible, also called the Torah, the law or Books of Moses.

...the "six geese a-laying" were the six days of creation.

...the "seven swans a swimming" were seven gifts of the Spirit listed in Romans 12: prophecy, service, teaching, exhortation, giving, administration and mercy.

...the "eight maids a-milking" were the eight beatitudes found in the Sermon on the Mount.

...the "nine ladies dancing" were nine friuts of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galations 5:22-23).

...the "ten lords a-leaping" were the Ten Commandments.

...the "eleven pipers piping" were the eleven faithful disciples.

...the "twelve drummers drumming" were the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

Cramming several holiday parties into one day is a bad idea

The easiest way to prevent holiday stress from sneaking up on you is to keep your expectations realistic. If you’re in a relationship and both of your families celebrate the holidays on the same day, you may think it’s best to please everyone by leaving one party early and arriving late to another, but, in actuality, you’re just setting yourself up for disaster. Instead of trying to cram multiple parties into the same day, make it easy on yourself and let your families know that you will be rotating your attendance at each’s party every year.

Organize a Secret Santa exchange if money is tight

For people with big families, buying presents for everyone can be a real financial burden, especially if your relatives expect lavish ones. Instead of trying to skimp by with trinket gifts (or racking up huge credit card debt) talk to your family and organize a Secret Santa exchange, where everyone in the gift-giving group will only be required to shop for one person. Not only does it ensure that no one feels left out, it will save you a lot of time scouring the mall searching for presents for your irritating Aunt Sally that you’d rather not buy a present for anyway.

Don’t feel obligated to send people a card or give them a gift just because they sent you one

When confronted with an unexpected holiday gift, you have two options: keep a stock of back up presents for such situations or just graciously thank the person for the gift. When it comes to holiday presents, there’s no quid pro quo rule in place.

Don’t let your relatives get to you

Spending several days in the same house with your family can either leave you joyful or exasperated. If it’s the latter, prepare yourself if your family is the type to ask embarrassing or inappropriate questions over the dinner table by thinking of evasive answers that you may be able to give. Also, if seeing your family causes more grief than pleasure, remember it’s okay to say no too. Don’t be afraid to celebrate the holidays with just your partner or kids if your extended family members drive you bonkers.

When everything else fails, spike the eggnog

The holidays are both the most wonderful and chaotic time of the year. Luckily they only last for a little over a month. So, despite any stress you may experience, just take a deep breath and remember January will be here before you know it.

Celebrate the Second Week of Advent

Advent is the first season in the church calendar. Since the 7th century A.D., Christians have included this celebration in their preparation for Christmas Day.

Beginning four Sundays before Christmas, its purpose is twofold: first, it prepares us for the celebration of the birth of Christ and second, it reminds us that we are eagerly waiting for Jesus' return in glory.

The word "advent" originates from the Latin word advenio which means "coming to". Advent is the time when we focus on Christ coming to the world. Throughout history, the Israelites anticipated the coming of their Messiah. In the Old Testament, over 400 scriptures and prophecies outline His birth, life, death, resurrection, and return. God had a plan to redeem His people. He declared His plan to His prophets over the centuries and is fulfilling His Word even now.

"Prepare the way of the Lord" serves as a main theme of this season. As we get ready for Christmas, we should not neglect to prepare our lives for Jesus, who came as "the light of the world." His light penetrated a dark world, which allowed all to see their Messiah, and the hope of their future.

Today we need to be prepared for the coming of Christ. Learning more about what the Bible reveals about Christ's return will enable us to understand the possible significance of world events.

Be ready and watchful, for the light of the world has come and will surely come again.

SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT: HOPE

We light a second purple candle on the second Sunday of Advent to represent the hope of Christ coming to the world.

The word "hope" has two meanings in the Bible. The first, tiqvah, contains the sense of eager anticipation or waiting. The second, elpis. depicts a sense of confident expectation based on certainty. Biblical hope is secured by God's faithfulness to His promises. For the Old Testament leaders, their hope was in the Messiah's arrival. For us, it is the hope of the Messiah's return.

God's plan for humanity unfolded in the town of Bethlehem, the birthplace of the Messiah, joyously fulfilling a long-awaited promise. Today we confidently wait for the Messiah's triumphant return.

DAY ONE: HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

"But you, Bethlehem, only a small village in Judah, yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from a distant past ... And He will stand to lead His flock with the Lord's strength ... Then His people will live undisturbed, for He will be highly honored all around the world. And He will be the source of our peace." (Micah 5:2, 4-5)

This is one of the most powerful messianic passages because Bethlehem is pinpointed as the birthplace of the Messiah. Written 750 years before Christ, Micah tells of the honor which will belong to Bethlehem. Christ's deity and humanity are shown here -- He is a shepherd, leading with the strength of God, bringing peace to His people.

The precision of God's promises proclaimed and fulfilled inspire us continually to hope in God. The hope of Christians is not wishful thinking, but based on the historical facts of Christ's birth, death and resurrection, and in the confidence of His eagerly anticipated return.

Heavenly Father, You are the source of all hope and we know our hope is in You -- You will not disappoint us. Teach us this week to anchor our hope in Jesus. Help us to persevere with You when we feel like giving up. We eagerly wait for Your return. Amen.

Forgiveness...As Seen By A 9-Year Old

My oldest son and I were having one of those talks in the car again.

We got on the subject of forgiveness. He was asking about it and said that sometimes he doesn't want to forgive. I let him know that is fairly normal when we've been hurt by someone else. He said that some things just seem like they are too hard to forgive.

He went on to ask about the things that have hurt me in my 38 years on this earth. I told him about handful of them and he seemed a little dumbfounded that I could forgive such big things. I then told him that I'd been forgiven so much for the things I'd done wrong that I could not withhold that forgiveness from another. My response seemed to suffice.

For the time being, that is.

Backtrack with me if you will to last year's Thanksgiving weekend. We made our yearly trip down to visit family and seemed to have every electronic gadget known to man to keep the boys entertained on the long trip.

Only somewhere along the road, Noah lost the iPod that he earned for making straight A's for his entire 3rd grade year. I don't know where it fell out of the car but I can assure you that Noah's mistake made someone else's day.

Noah and I continued our talk about forgiveness as we went to the grocery store that afternoon. During this talk I brought up his carelessness about losing his iPod AGAIN. I didn't yell, but definitely let him know AGAIN that he needed to take better care of his things. As if he didn't know that already.

And you know what he said to me?

He said, "Mom, you sure can forgive the big things that are hard to forgive but you can't let a little thing like losing an iPod go."

Ouch. He was right. So, I let it go.

Give Thanks for He is Good

By Martha Noebel – It's that time of year again. Each Fall, farmers always stopped and looked at the bountiful harvest at the end of the long summer and gave thanks to God for helping them.

We too need to stop and give thanks to God for all He has given us. We are blessed. Everything we want may not be in our houses, but we need to be thankful.

David said in the Bible:

"I will thank you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High". -Psalm 9:1-2.

God loves to hear us. He takes great pleasure in receiving our thanks and our love. He cares so deeply about everything that affects our lives. Talk to Him. Tell Him whatever is on your heart. He understands and wants to meet your needs.

One day my daughter asked for me to clean a special outfit for her to wear to school the next day. I took the time and made sure it was ready for her. As is sometimes the way with busy teens, she did not say thank you.

When I mentioned it to her, she seemed surprised. She felt it was my job as her mother to have her clothes ready. I was really hurt. I was expecting a "thank you."

I believe God feels the same way when we don't stop and show a grateful heart for all He does for us each day. He wants us to be thankful. We should not look at Him and expect that it's His "job" to bless us without a thank you in return.

Just like my daughter who needed a reminder to appreciate the things she has, the family she is blessed with, and to be thankful for the loving heavenly Father who watches over her, we too need to be reminded.

How great is the Father's love for us. How awesome are His deeds. Let us rejoice and be thankful to Him and bless His name. Give thanks to God for He is good and His mercy is everlasting. Great is the love of our God. Let's give thanks.

There is so much to give thanks for. Let's not wait until the fourth Thursday of November, because for the children of God, every day should be Thanksgiving -LeMonique.

God did not merely create “the human race,” but He created each of us as individual persons. Surely God must have had a purpose in making the creation as He did, with many various parts, all unique and different from one another. Surely His Fatherly joy must come not only from thinking of His work as a whole, but from thinking of the uniqueness of each part.

Do you ever despise your own set of particulars: your circumstances, your characteristics, your life? Do you ever wish you had someone else’s situation? Do you ever doubt that what you can do is going to matter in the larger scheme of things? If you do, my prayer is that you will learn to appreciate

the greatness of the creation of which you are a part, and
the uniqueness of the part that God had in mind for you personally.

In the grand oratorio of creation, God wasted no effort on duplicate or unnecessary parts. Without your voice, the music will be marred and diminished.

Finally, let us consider that if we’ve obey the word and are walking faithfully with God, we each have a RELATIONSHIP with Him that is absolutely unique. God would have sent His Son to the cross if you were the only person who needed to be saved, and having saved you, He loves the way YOU respond to His goodness.

Spotting Goodness

When I become excessively critical towards others, it means I am going in the wrong direction. We are usually very good at spotting mistakes, but we should develop the quality of also spotting goodness. If I can see what is good in others or in situations and go beyond the curtain of negativity, I feel good about myself.

If I constantly think "he is wrong", I instead create a barrier which blocks me from reaching my own goodness. A very ancient law says: "just as I treat others, I shall be treated by others".

Affirmation: "I am learning about unconditional love. I respect and admire the people around me".

When I awaken in the morning, the first thing I do before I even open my eyes is to thank my bed for a good night’s sleep. I am grateful for the warmth and comfort it has given me. From that beginning, it is easy to think of many, many more things that I am grateful for. By the time I have gotten out of bed, I have probably expressed gratitude for 80 or 100 different people, places, things, and experiences in my life. This is a great way to start the day.

In the evening, just before sleep, I go through the day, blessing and being grateful for each experience. I also forgive myself if I feel that I made a mistake or said something inappropriate or made a decision that was not the best. This exercise fills me with “warm fuzzies,” and I drift off to sleep like a happy baby.

We even want to be grateful for the lessons we have learned. Don’t run from lessons; they are little packages of treasure that have been given to us. As we learn from them, our lives change for the better.

Affirm: I am so grateful for my beautiful life. I am cherished and loved by everyone.

I Said I Was Sorry

In my Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage seminar I explain in detail how a man’s brain tends to compartmentalize things. It’s like men have separate boxes in their heads for everything: money, sex, kids, wife, in-laws, etc. And for a guy these boxes don’t touch. He thinks about one thing at a time and then moves on to the next thing since one box isn’t connected to another.

Then I go on to explain how a woman’s brain is like a big ball of wire where everything is connected to everything and there is no compartmentalizing at all. Money can be connected to the in-laws and sex can be connected to the kids. Things can run together very easily in a woman’s brain.

These two very opposite ways of thinking and processing cause men and women to communicate in very different ways. There is one area this is particularly evident and often problematic–the apology. Because men have this unique ability to compartmentalize, a guy can go to his “apology box”, say he’s sorry for something he did, close that box and then move on to the next task or thing to think about. In his mind he took care of it, he said he was sorry, it’s done and life goes on.

Not so for a woman. When she has been crossed or hurt for some reason, the connections in her brain make it impossible to compartmentalize. She may attach all sorts of reasons, feelings, and ideas to that one incident. While her husband has moved on to other territory, she hasn’t because it may take her some time to process her emotions and thoughts. So when a woman is still upset, sad or hurt for a couple of days (sometimes weeks depending on the infraction) it is often a puzzle to the man. Guys will then perceive their wives as holding onto a grudge, being unforgiving and unwilling to move on, and they can become very frustrated. After all, he said he was sorry, why can’t she just get past it?

Because of the way women are wired with all these connections in their brains, it’s more difficult for them to get past the hurt. It’s actually a really good thing for you guys because this is what allows her to put up with your nonsense! You mess up and say and do hurtful things and she’s still there because women have this ability to form deep connections. It truly works for men this way, but when you do something extremely hurtful, it works against you; you will have to fix it, and that may take some time.

I hear tales all the time of men who have done hurtful things—huge things like having an affair or smaller things like saying something very mean and spiteful—and then they say, “I’m sorry” and expect it all to go away. When it doesn’t these guys get upset and throw it back on their wives because his wife “can’t get over it”. It just doesn’t work that way for women. Men need to learn that pushing her to “move on” isn’t the answer. The answer is for you to own the problem that you created.

It’s not her problem of unforgiveness. It’s not that she won’t accept your apology. She’s still hurting and it’s going to take some time for her to get over it. Men see absolutely no connection between the offense and the continued emotions. It’s like they dropped the atomic bomb but don’t realize that there is fallout beyond the initial explosion that they will have to keep cleaning up and dealing with. Men, when you hurt your wife and you see she’s still dealing with it, don’t you dare turn that around and put it on her. You look at your wife and say, “I see you are still hurting. I understand this is still painful. I realize I did this to you. I’m sorry.” Then shut up! Don’t defend yourself, make excuses or blame her. Every time you see it, you own it. Even if you have to do it a 100 times. That’s just the way it is.

Remember guys, when it comes to apologies, there is no “apology box” in your wife’s brain. Don’t make the mistake of thinking or saying, “I said I was sorry! Just move on!” Don’t put the rap on her, or she will end up thinking you are not sorry at all.

There are several reasons for showing appreciation:

To let others know that you recognise their kindness, effort or ability; to thank a colleague, a family or a friend for a job well done. To send a message to simply say “I appreciate you”!

And several ways to do so:
Remember a person’s special date or event, e.g. a birthday; an anniversary.

Say a simple “Thank You” to someone to show your appreciation to that person or to thank them for their patience if faced with extended waiting times; or send a personalised ‘Thank You’ Card to someone in recognition of what he/she has done for you. Have an attitude of gratitude!

We need to say ‘Thank You’ every day. We need to show every one that we sincerely value the gift they bring us – their business, their support or just for being who they are!

How can I find inner peace through gratefulness?

Our inner peace begins with counting our blessings, and fans out to include even the hardest challenges, those which we used to consider a curse. Let's start by looking at the good in our lives. Step by step, we can expand the picture to see how acceptance grows until all of your life is bathed in peace.

Are you really present here and now? What are you thankful for? (Give yourself a few moments to reflect on this question.) Is there something you are not thankful for? What is it? Spell it out to yourself. Is it really in this present moment? If it's in the past (a painful memory), let go: You want to be present here and now. If it's in the future (an anxiety or fear), let go: You want to be present here and now. If there is something in the present that you can't be thankful for – pain, grief, confusion – accept it as given. What is, is. You are confronted with a given reality. You may not be able to be thankful for it, but you can obviously live with it: You do! -- at least in this one moment, and that's all you've got. Embrace this truth, not only with your intellect, which is too narrow, but with your whole heart. Let this experience sink in. Do you feel peace, a tiny bit, at least?

Celebrating love is a wonderful joy!

Enduring love is a beautiful gift and a tender expression of God’s amazing grace. In Him our hearts rejoice.

We met each other on a blind-date set by Gustavo & Janice Goilo, on October-1-1993. We both realised we were on a blind date when they came to pick me up in Gustavo's car at 9 'o clock at my Parents' house. Agmeth was there sitting in the back of this beautiful Cadillac. I was a little nervous for we were complete strangers. This was the first blind date I have ever been on. We went to Club LA, at the time a dancing place, where every Friday the Band Survival used to play.

After a few songs and some dance moves we got a bit closer and familiar with each other. The night then continued till 2 AM when Gustavo drove to "Trùk di Pan Sahara" where we had great 'pan-ku-karkó'. Although Agmeth did give me his business card, I thought "I wouldn't be the one who will be calling". I wanted him to call me first. But I couldn't resist... I called him the next day upon request of my Mom, to invite him to my uncle's Birthday Party the day after we've met.

.....and there was where all the sparkling started.... day by day we learned a little more about each other. We are much more than likeable…we are deeply in love.

Today is not our wedding-anniversary. Today we celebrate the day we met each other for the first time: 16 years of friendship, love, joy, grace, companion, trust, communication, warmth...... and God's best!

To Gustavo & Janice co-authors of our love, thanks for the unforgettable evening and can you come pick us up again sometime? ☺

We pray: Dear Father, we thank You for blessing us. We claim it, we believe it and we receive it. Amen.
